Control Vision, Inc. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: MDA11-042

Control Vision, Inc. — SBIR Phase II award from Department of Defense.

Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal

  • Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
  • Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
  • At $1,500,000, this is a large obligation for typical SBIR Phase sizing — worth reviewing for scope breadth and teaming opportunity.
  • Topic code MDA11-042 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

The Missile Defense Agency is seeking debris ejection data during the post burn-out period of a solid rocket motor in an exoatmospheric environment for the development and verification of analytic models. Currently little is understood of debris ejection during this phase of the solid rocket burn. Control Vision, Inc. proposes developing a sensor suite containing an infrared microbolometer-based focal plane array and a high resolution visible camera. A third optical sensor will be developed which will provide in-situ scene corrections via two-color temperature and high temporal resolution velocity measurements. The goal of the Phase II program is a flight ready sensor suite capable of debris measurement during a solid rocket burn.
