Description

The Digital Sustainment Platform (DSP) provides cloud-based industry best practice advanced analytics, engineering, manufacturing, modeling & simulation, product quality, and supply chain management service-based capabilities for the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and DoD Arsenals, Depots, and Shipyards, and extends these same capabilities via a Service Portfolio Management (SPM) strategy to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Small-to-Medium Manufacturers (SMM) ensuring availability of standards-based approaches for achieving DoD digital engineering, model-based engineering, model-based manufacturing, and model-based sustainment objectives.  With these DSP-enabled standards-based approaches the DLA has the applications, tools, and services needed to effectively, efficiently, and intentionally increase the number of OEMs and SMMs directly engaged in supporting the U.S. defense industrial base engineer-to-order, manufacture-to-order, and supply-to-order materiel support objectives.  The DSP’s fully integrated SPM strategy provides the DLA opportunities to assess, evaluate, and modify service-based capabilities (e.g., engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications) to make sure the proper mix of applications, tools, and services are made available to DoD, DLA, OEM, and SMM analytical, functional, and technical members of the DoD organic and wider U.S. defense manufacturing industrial base enterprise.  The DSP’s service-based capabilities include: 2D-3D Digital Remastering; 3D Source Approval Request (3D SAR); 3D Technical Data Packages (3D TDP); Cloud Engineering Workspace; Computer-aided Design (CAD); Computer-aided Engineering (CAE); Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM); Concurrent Engineering; Configuration Management; Cyber Security; Data Security; Decision Support; Digital Artifact Repository; Digital Parts Management; Digital Product Catalogs; Engineering-as-a-Service; Engineering Change Notices (ECN); Engineering Data Management; Generative Design; Manufacturing Simulation; Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A); Multi-physics Modeling; Product Data Management (PDM); Product Lifecycle Management (PLM); Quality Management System (QMS); Real-time Collaboration Space; Requirements Traceability; Should Cost Analysis; Standardized Reports; Systems Modeling Language (SysML); Trade Space Analysis; Virtual Evaluation and Inspection; and What-if Analysis.  Collectively these DSP service-based capabilities support DoD and DLA objectives to expedite identification and qualification of DLA OEM and SMM manufacturing sources of supply, and in-turn, significantly decrease the acquisition and production lead times of mission critical assemblies, subassemblies, components, and consumable parts needed to support DoD warfighter readiness.
