Description

Military service poses unique challenges for women’s health and requires special consideration for Air Force and partner force healthcare providers. As the number of women in the military continues to increase, it will become even more important to ensure that military providers are specifically trained to provide comprehensive care for female service members and to anticipate potential medical conditions and psychosocial challenges associated with their service. SimX VRMSS provides a medical simulation modality that can be utilized to standardize curriculum development for women’s health and establish targeted learning objectives to ensure that military providers are prepared to address this significant risk to force and mission. SimX’s Virtual Reality Medical Simulation System (VRMSS) provides a diverse range of fully immersive simulation training scenarios across a variety of patient and physiological scenarios. The proposed enhancements of the commercial VRMSS will enable medical personnel to receive rapid, cost-efficient training across the spectrum of requirements for female medical care. The research institute partner for this effort will be the University of South Florida.
