SPECTRAL LABS INCORPORATED — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: DTRA212-007

SPECTRAL LABS INCORPORATED — SBIR Phase II award from Department of Defense.

Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal

  • Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
  • Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
  • Obligated amount $999,934 is consistent with substantial Phase II-scale effort; compare to related awards from the same agency.
  • Topic code DTRA212-007 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

Spectral Labs is proposing to continue the development of a simulation software for use with standalone COTS VR headsets which enables the accurate simulation of radiation behaviors and also the equipment used to measure such radiation for this Phase II SBIR activity. SLI will build upon its decade-long history of simulation and computer-based training for the rad/nuc mission space which will enable the rapid prototyping and deployment of a proven simulation system. Implemented algorithms will be tested against known modeling software such as MCNP, as well as ground truth data.  The system will have a robust multiuser mode to allow concurrent users the ability to experience the same VR scenario with one another. In addition, an AR prototype version of the software will be developed.
