Description
ABSTRACT: The concept of Space Time Coding (STC) was first described in the technical literature in the mid-1990s. In 1998, Alamouti introduced a specific form of STC that is rate 1, meaning that it does not expand the bandwidth of the signal. The Alamouti STC is particularly well suited to the aeronautical telemetry channel, and a prototype Alamouti STC system has been built and tested at Edwards AFB. The results of those flight tests showed substantial improvement in overall data integrity, compared to traditional telemetry schemes. This proposal addresses the migration of the STC hardware from an experimental prototype to a market-ready product. BENEFIT: Space-Time Coding can eliminate the telemetry dropouts caused by inter-antenna interference.
