Description
The military is interested in new high density handheld radio batteries to meet evolving radio systems that require additional power. In particular, it is desired to produce a battery that has a capacity greater than 500 W-hr/kg delivering 12 volts and 16 amp-hours in a package weighing less than 0.84 pounds. This battery shall also maintain greater than 70% of its nominal capacity after 300 full discharge cycles and occupy a space less than 15 in3 with a peak current capability of 8 amps. To this need, SkyVision Sciences will develop a new battery using a solid state electrolyte that can operate over nominal temperatures spanning -40 to 50 °C offering wide-spread of the battery within military handheld radios.
