Description
Yotta Navigation will develop and build a simple, rugged, reliable, compact and cost-effective military GPS sensor platform (GPS-SP). The GPS-SP will be a self-contained military Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) module. It will securely communicate with the Android operating system platform, which is planned for use in the new US Army Handheld Computing Environment (Handheld CE). This will decouple the GPS receiver from the handset, allowing each technology to evolve separately, while still ensuring standards-based data-centric interoperability between them. The result will be a more open-architecture approach, enabling flexibility, innovation, and cost-savings over the current DAGR-centric military GPS paradigm. In addition, the GPS-SP will be versatile enough to allow secure connections to other sensors, and will have a natural migration path to future MGUE M-Code receivers. Because of our previous experience integrating SAASM PPS P(Y) GPS receivers -- along with prior work on Android and other embedded/real-time operating systems -- we are confident that we can accomplish this ambitious challenge. The Yotta Navigation team assembled for this SBIR includes hardware, software, security, and networking industry veterans. The project will be led by a prior service US Army officer with years of tactical field experience both as an enlisted soldier and officer.
