Description

Lithium-ion battery systems are proliferating across military and commercial markets. Due to their high energy and compelling power densities, lithium based batteries are an ideal match for long and demanding missions and are being integrated into more critical systems every day. As more and more batteries are introduced to mission and safety critical systems it has become all the more important to consider the security implications of the battery manufacturing process to protect against compromises in the hardware and software systems of the BMS.  The BMS relies on valid software, accurate sensor readings, and control systems working together to maintain the safe operation of the battery. If any of these systems are compromised it could result in a device not functioning when it is needed or even a fire. To solve these issues, TAF will provide a modular Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) tester that will help ensure that none of the critical BMS systems have been compromised.
