Twinleaf LLC — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: N19A-T006

Twinleaf LLC — SBIR Phase II award from Department of Defense.

Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal

  • Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
  • Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
  • At $1,796,249, this is a large obligation for typical SBIR Phase sizing — worth reviewing for scope breadth and teaming opportunity.
  • Topic code N19A-T006 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

We propose a two year program to develop an atomic vector magnetometer to replace standard commercial fluxgate magnetometers in use by the US Navy. Thousands of fluxgate magnetometers are used to measure ship magnetic signatures and they are often limited by low frequency drift. An vector magnetometer based on atomic spin will have significantly improved drift. The alkali metal atomic vector magnetometer we propose to develop has a focus on performance, simplicity, reliability, and long service lifetime: at least 10 years in operation.
