Description

VISIMO proposes to develop a risk management platform referred to internally as Demeter thatleverages a custom machine learning model to enhance the efficiency profitability and safety ofsmall and mid-sized farms. Demeter will advance the state of farm safety by identifying risksproviding mitigating actions and offering economic cost-benefit analyses for suggestedmitigations. Users can utillize the tool without internet connectivity as required by producersworking in remote rural environments. Demeter supports USDA and NIFA program goals throughimproving safety efficiency and operational management in agriculture increasing productivityand supporting the training of current and future producers.Project objectives include documenting research and development specifications and successmetrics for prototype validation; enhancing the progressive web application backend to include anintuitive user interface; developing natural language processing and object detection tools thatenable users to create novel hazards specific to their operating environments; alpha and betatesting on small farms to refine functionality and usability issues; and iterative improvement tofurther refine machine learning components.
