Description
BWRI is proposing the development of a novel PPM focusing system intended for use in high power, compact W-band Amplifier applications. Unique to this design are the use of high magnetic flux density hybrid PPM focusing structure. We propose the modeling and simulation and initial mechanical design of a Beamstick capable of generating and transporting a 25 kV, 10 kW, 0.3 mm diameter electron beam down a 0.5 drift tunnel diameter over a distance of at least 5 cm in Phase 1 of the program. A preliminary W-band circuit design will also be explored to ensure future compatibility with the resulting beam optics. In the Phase-1 Option, we will generate a detailed drawing of the electron gun, and develop a preliminary mechanical layout and specifications, which includes gun, magnet, and collector to form the foundation for the Phase-2 engineering plan. In Phase 2 program, we will finalize the engineering design, fabricate, and test the device.
