Description
BTech proposes to examine potential benefits of improved acoustic motion sensor materials, sensor designs, preamplification and telemetry to enhance affordability and adoption of this technology. The company has considerable experience with the design and testing of novel vector sensors and manufacturing of acoustic accelerometers for naval applications including hull and towed arrays. BTech will develop combined pressure and acceleration-based sensors that can be manufactured very cost-effectively in scale, and to use proven and open data telemetry methods. BTech will explore several paths for optimization for particular application requirements, which include active material selection, preferred element geometries, and robustness in operation and handling. A new bioinspired MEMS-based directional sensor that achieves high sensitivity and manufacturability is considered for this sensing application. The contractor will leverage its two decades of experience with acoustic motion vector and pressure sensors with supporting electronics including new low-noise compact preamplifier designs and telemetry.
