Description
Technology insertion related to Smart Manufacturing is a strategic objective and the 402nd Aircraft Maintenance Group (AMXG) who have been striving to implement sensor based data collection technologies as part of their LSE2040, Efficient Depot objective for Technology Enabled Reconfigurable Facilities. In a specific example, AF depot painting process requires painters working on a large aircraft far from the manually configured paint carts. Without remote monitoring the cart pressures can be out of tolerance causing improper paint application on our defense assets, risking rework delays and a violation of Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regulations. Complicating the matter is the explosive environment found in the paint rooms and no power running to the paint carts. The Computer Servants solution, the CSRM7, originates in years of research, development, prototyping and testing in sensing and delivery of important data to commercial production and government entities reducing the technical risk to the Air Force in our TRL 6 solution. Our technology and the government objective to enable smart manufacturing provide a clear path for commercialization.
