Description
PNT systems must operate in a rapidly evolving environment. New GNSS signals are constantly being added. Methods for multi-GNSS integrity monitoring are rapidly evolving and improving. Additional navigation signals or signals of opportunity at LEO have proliferated in recent years. Navigation satellites with reprogrammable signal capabilities are also expected to become available in the future. These constantly changing systems along with ever-evolving GNSS threats require both a PNT system and acquisition process that is fast and agile. Software defined receiver (SDR) technology provides a potential materiel solution for adaptable and agile PNT systems. For example, the upcoming Software Defined User Equipment (SDUE) program is expected to address many of these challenges by developing an SDR-based alternative to existing ASIC-based MGUE receivers. In this effort, the tools and development process for creating such a system will be developed. Model based system engineering (MBSE) techniques will be used to develop a digital twin for a multi-GNSS receiver. This digital twin will consist of a set of containerized simulation and modeling capabilities based on open architecture interfaces that will provide an authoritative digital representation of a multi-GNSS SDR.
