Description
The Air Force Security Forces Center (AFSFC) organizes, trains, and equips Security Forces worldwide. AFSFC is seeking to modernize training, following Air Education and Training Command’s (AETC) model characterized by digital literacy and means, rapid curriculum development and agile curriculum updates, with an emphasis on tasks that are mission-focused. The AFSFC is seeking to modernize training accessibility, delivery and efficacy by accelerating change through investment in learning options that will allow Security Forces to train in a digitally connected and virtual environment they are already familiar with. This training modernization proposal will follow the Air Force’s Career Development Course’s (CDC) modernization process done in four stages: analysis and discovery; design and prototyping; beta testing and implementation; followed by evaluation. The AFSFC has chosen four specific, career field-wide training requirements that have outdated, ineffective or non-existent training curriculums to transform into a Virtual Reality or App Format. The training areas chosen are linked to a national Defense-related mission need in the area of Building a More Lethal Force and Integrated Defense, specifically as defined in Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s strategic plan (LOE 1, increase Lethality and Readiness) and the AFSFC’s Area of Interest number 4, Provide relevant and agile Defender training to enhance mission readiness, proficiency, and lethality. The AFSFC selected a Security Forces Commander and his team to partner with Street Smarts VR to ensure field-level and end user representation throughout this effort. Partnered with this Air Force team, SSVR will analyze/discover the training requirements and design and build a VR or App training curriculum for each of courses selected. The team will determine the efficacy of the VR or App training modules through beta testing and updating followed by evaluation of the new training format. The AFSFC will further quantify enterprise level impact of training modules as well as potential impact of expanded VR training conversion for the career field.
