Description
In the proposed Phase II program, Terves will demonstrate pilot scale production of gadolinium metal and alloys for use in defense critical applications. The overall goal of the Phase II program is to design, install and demonstrate a production capacity of at least 10,000kg per year of commercial grade purity gadolinium for use in magnet production, with a stretch goal of having the ability to produce other REE’s at similar scales. The project will produce pilot scale batches at a scale of 20-50kg, with a total Phase II production target of >200kg of gadolinium (or gadolinium alloyed material). The produced material will be used in the pilot production of magnets as well as for a proprietary wrought magnesium alloy in two qualification trials.
