ADROIT MATERIALS, INC. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: N231-070

ADROIT MATERIALS, INC. — SBIR Phase I award from Department of Defense.

Phase I SBIR feasibility signal

  • Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Defense in a technical approach.
  • Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
  • Obligated amount $140,000. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.
  • Topic code N231-070 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

As an alternative to MCPs and PMTs, it is proposed to use AlGaN-based UV detectors. These detectors are based on ultra-wide bandgap AlGaN, which allows for solar blind detection of light with wavelength <220 nm, high quantum efficiency (70% at 190 nm), small footprint and weight (<10 g, 170 mm3), stable operation with long lifetime (>10,000 hrs), large detection area (>1 mm2), wide operating temperature window (-50 – 400°C), and radiation hardness.
