Description
The overall objective of the HI-GAINS SBIR program is to develop a high-integrity Global Navigation System (GNS) to mitigate the vulnerability of Navy platforms’ navigation system to jamming, spoofing, or electromagnetic interference (EMI), while meeting the stringent size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints for size Group 3 or smaller UAS.In the recently completed HI-GAINS Phase II program, Mayflower developed the overall architecture of the HI-GAINS system. In the Phase II program, Mayflower also developed and demonstrated a prototype of the HI-GAINS system in a federated system configuration using the GPS Anti-Jam and SAASM receiver technologies from the Mayflower’s highly SWaP-C optimized NavGuard® 100 Integrated Anti-Jam SAASM GPS Receiver product. The HI-GAINS Phase II prototype system also integrated other sensors in the HI-GAINS prototype to address GPS denial and spoofing conditions. The primary focus of the HI-GAINS Phase II CD program is on developing and maturing the GPS anti-jam antenna solution for the Navy RQ-21A Blackjack UAS platform and delivering production representative prototype articles (PRAs) that meet the platform environmental and EMI qualification requirements at TRL 6. In a follow-on Phase III program will mature HI-GAINS systems to TRL 7/8.
