PROGENY SYSTEMS, LLC — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: N08-219

PROGENY SYSTEMS, LLC — SBIR Phase II award from Department of Defense.

Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal

  • Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
  • Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
  • At $4,498,934, this is a large obligation for typical SBIR Phase sizing — worth reviewing for scope breadth and teaming opportunity.
  • Topic code N08-219 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

The objective of this Phase II SBIR is to develop a transducer using next generation ceramic technology, and wideband amplifier with enhanced magnetics to form a system that will operate in conjunction with spread spectrum digital communications software to enable acoustic communications from a submarine while operating at speed and depth. The research innovation behind project lies in the use of a next generation ceramic material. This new transducer will provide increased bandwidth over the existing transducer as a form / fit / function replacement, thereby enabling its use in the DACOMMS application. To support this, the existing wideband amplifier will be modified / redesigned for use within the legacy transmitter cabinet. Together these components will enable DACOMMS for use on both submarines and surface ships for enhanced tactical / operational use.
