THERMAVANT TECHNOLOGIES LLC — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: AF212-0004

THERMAVANT TECHNOLOGIES LLC — SBIR Phase I award from Department of Defense.

Phase I SBIR feasibility signal

  • Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Defense in a technical approach.
  • Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
  • Obligated amount $149,988. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.
  • Topic code AF212-0004 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

Under this proposed Phase I SBIR effort, ThermAvant Technologies (ThermAvant) shall design, model, prototype and analyze the thermal performance of oscillating heat pipe (OHP) thermal heat sinks to acquire, rapidly spread and isothermally manage the heat produced during operation of the V-band phased array. The OHP design will expand the operating window of the V-band array without size, weight and power (SWaP) penalties imposed by status quo heat sinks. ThermAvant will work with a partner to develop V-band phased array architecture designs that enable the integration of the architecture with ThermAvant’s OHP technology. Lastly, ThermAvant will investigate different heat sink materials and designs to optimize the OHP heat sinks for future, higher-volume supply to military and commercial customers.
