Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal
- Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
- Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
- At $1,798,748, this is a large obligation for typical SBIR Phase sizing — worth reviewing for scope breadth and teaming opportunity.
- Topic code DLA203-001 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description
The focus of this SBIR project is to design, develop and deliver a manufacturable current transformer to replace the obsolete legacy transformer that is currently in use in the B-52. During the Phase I and Phase I Option periods of the project, Kaney successfully reverse-engineered the legacy transformer and designed and built a demonstration replacement transformer to meet form, fit and function requirements as provided by the Air Force. For this proposed Phase II activity, Kaney will perform activities required to qualify this replacement transformer for B-52 flight service. Qualification activities will include test equipment design and fabrication, qualification procedure development, qualification testing, and qualification reporting. In addition, Kaney will develop and demonstrate the necessary equipment, processes, and methods to manufacture the replacement transformer.
