Description
Kaney Inc. (Kaney) proposes development of a SAR package and development plan for National Stock Number (NSN) 6150-01-629-3728, a Battery Connector Assembly. This battery connector assembly is out of stock at two different suppliers (but available at a third supplier, please see below in Figure 6-1), and the NSN pertains to F-15C and F-15D based platforms including variants currently flown by some US Allies (Alt. Part No for this NSN is 838796710WS3, which is used by aircraft maintainers at the depots). During Phase I, Kaney will utilize our in-house manufacturing and analysis capabilities to develop Kaney drawings and a manufacturing/qualification plan for this part. Kaney has extensive domain knowledge and capabilities related to this part. Through our research into the battery connector assembly manufacturing/supply base, Kaney has concluded that suppliers of such parts are limited. Additionally, Kaney spoke with users familiar with the assembly. Results from that investigation indicated the current assembly fails to meet the operational requirements, requiring fielding repairs without a definite solution. The Kaney staff engineer (Mr. Dave Kloos, PI) who will be leading this effort has spent over 10 years of his career in the Aerospace Industry conducting root cause failure analysis and testing of commercial and military aircraft sub-systems, including the Boeing 777X Backup Generator. Kaney’s planned approach for the program is summarized below: • Procure a sample unit and all available technical data for measurement and inspection. • Undertake non-destructive testing to validate performance requirements. • Perform a destructive analysis with an optional material analysis if required. • Complete a preliminary design, developmental Technical Data Package (TDP), and a manufacturing feasibility study. Appropriate SAR package components will be generated to meet POC requirements.
