Corrdesa, LLC — SBIR Phase I award from Department of Defense.

Phase I SBIR feasibility signal

  • Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Defense in a technical approach.
  • Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
  • Obligated amount $149,998. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.

Description

This project will develop a non-drip spot anodizing repair for aircraft flooring for use on C-5 aircraft maintained at WR-ALC. The current repair method is a patch that leaves the surrounding aluminum floor unprotected. Corrdesa will use a process developed under NAVAIR funding to spot anodize the area with a MIL-A-8625 Type II layer that has been shown to be corrosion/abrasion-resistant. This approach has already been demonstrated for anodize repair on a C-5 floor panel, and used on the Static Port of a P-8 that has now flown for >1 year with no corrosion. A report will be produced that includes the capabilities and specifications for the non-drip process, including an overlap coating method that preserves the structural integrity of the bond line. It will also define the requirements, process, and non-drip equipment that will be delivered in Phase 2. This equipment and process will be designed for the scale and speed required for efficient on-aircraft anodizing.
